So I would not class myself as a fitness fanatic by any means but I am and have always been a little bit of a geek when it comes to tracking how many steps I do a day.
Due to having an office job, I am always mindful that I’m sat on my bum for 9 hours a day (with the odd trip to the little girls room). And at work I never carry my phone around with me, so I never really knew how many steps I was doing on the built in pedometer you get on your phone.
Rewind back to January this year when Alex bought me a Fitbit Charge HR for my birthday. Since this day, every single step counts.
Over the last few months I have had several Fitbit’s. Initially, I had the teal Fitbit Charge HR which is a gorgeous colour. After a week of wearing and using, the colour from my clothes transferred onto the band which made it look really horrible. But credit to Fitbit and their amazing customer service though, I contacted them and explained what the issue was and within minutes they were sending out a replacement Fitbit. I decided to go for ‘Tangerine’ in case the same happened as with the teal one. When it arrived it was more of a red than tangerine but I loved it nonetheless.
Guess what happened next? The SAME thing as my teal one 🙁 I was truly gutted and contacted Fitbit once more to let them know. Fitbit being the wonderful people that they are sent another one out to me. This time to be safe, I requested the black one.
The features of the Charge HR are really impressive:
- PurePulse™ Heart Rate
- Long Battery Life – lasting up to 5 days
- Workouts + All-Day Activity – tracks workout, heart rate, distance, calories burned, floors climbed, active minuted and steps.
- Auto sleep tracking & silent alarms
- Caller ID and it’s a watch!
You can also sync your activity to the Fitbit app and keep a log of everything. And even invite friends to challenges (which I promise, I am not competitive at all!)
It was around the wedding in March, when I noticed that Fitbit were releasing a new more ‘stylish’ tracker which I REALLY wanted! I was putting it off for months because I already had the Charge HR and thought that it may be a little silly buying another. But you guessed it… I purchased the Alta and I am so glad I did.
It is so much slimmer than the Charge HR and doesn’t really look like a fitness tracker – this was one thing I was always cautious of. YOU CAN ALSO CHANGE THE BAND! I currently have a pink leather strap which is truly gorgeous and makes it look even better than it already did.
The features of the Alta aren’t as advanced as the Charge HR but I don’t mind that:
- All day activity
- Auto sleep tracking
- Reminders to move – this is so cute. It talk to me every hour to encourage me to hit at least 250 steps an hour!
- It’s a watch which lets you chose the different clock faces, landscape or portrait orientation
- Auto recognizes exercise
- Extremely long battery life – I have noticed that my Alta lasts longer than my Charge HR battery did
- Call, text (or WhatsApp) and calendar alerts
- Interchangeable bands (which are sold separately!)
Since owning a Fitbit, I have taken the longer way back to the office on my lunch break., I don’t mind if I leave something upstairs and have to run and grab it and it honestly shocked me to see how little steps I used to do before owning a Fitbit.
I’m not the next Joe Wicks (and I don’t profess to be) but I’m basically conquering the world 10,000 steps a day! Fancy joining me? Send me your email address and we can be Fitbit friends 🙂
